Bad sound effects...

The sound effects just about drove me crazy in this one. I could feel my ears twitching from the grating noises that were coming out of my speakers.

This is also a very old and overdone game concept. And from what I saw, it didn't look like you diversified or added anything new to the "swap the objects" genre of game.

Could have been cool.

Although of the 3 enemy types I came in contact with before I gave up, 2 of them had much longer weapons than any that I had, and could kill me in two hits. The difficulty balancing on this would have made it near impossible to have beaten. The first enemy you encounter is able to stop, mid-whip-swing and jump back out of range when you try and strike him. The only strategy is to put yourself directly in his line of fire by jumping in front of him and quickly trying to strike before he gets a hit off. Even then... I didn't once kill him. I hit him 3 times with the gigantic over-head swinging sword and he still didn't die. While I die in two hits of his whip, every time. Granted, it was never finished, but even had it been, no one would have had the patience to play it through.

The level up button raises your attack and defense stats (the button its there to debug but the exp points system works), the first guy was only an AI test he wasnt supposed to show up until later in the game thats why he is so damn powerful (you are level 1 at the very begging of course)

The idea was to raise your levels through stages
You should try the other weapons and crashes

Why is it...

... that every review that states that it is dumb that the crow can't touch the ground has a "useless" rating? It's a completely valid point. I know it basically ruined the game for me. I mean, stop and think about it, besides the great graphics, and the ambiance it sets up, etc. what makes this that much different than any other avoidance game? Whether you're using the mouse, or a keyboard, if the objective is to avoid anything visible lest you die, it is an avoider game.

It is a sorry excuse of crow indeed that cannot tread upon the ground without exploding into a confetti of black feathers.

Really innovative

Such a step up from the simple tower-defense game. A massive step up. While I don't really find the standard, top-down tower-defense games very enjoyable at all, this is a distinct departure from that. The ability to control some of the damage through your own actions, and not just your "towers", is a real plus. As well as having the ability to upgrade both that part and the strength of your towers, made for a lot of variety of "leveling-up".

I also can't laud you enough for the style of it. The surreal, fantastical look and feel of it. With the glowing silhouettes against black... the choice of towers and their abilities was so original and interesting... I wish there had been more.

On a final note... these being robots and all, it would further diversify the game-play if the character had ranged attacks as well. Like lasers or homing missiles. Might detract somewhat from the simplicity of the style, maybe... all in all an awesome game, and a very new breed indeed.

Really well done.

The physical aspects are outstanding. The elaticity of the stars' points, bounding around off of walls, and squeezing through spaces. I also like the zooming out while controlling the rotation of the board with several different stars, and the ability to split an already segregated star who is off on his own into more when he alone grows. Makes for some pretty interesting scenarios.

There just seems to be something missing in terms of content. The premise is a bit odd, for one, and the story is really loose and doesn't really draw you in to what is going on. And what is with having to collect treasures, but then shaking them off to make more room? You're forced to collect them... then you're forced to throw them away? Seemed kinda odd. Anyway... excellent design and programming effort on this one, for sure. Just doesn't have the kind of addictive content that would draw me back for more.

Why?

I started up "Arcade" mode. I literally looked over the board for 5 minutes for a move (mind you, I HAD JUST STARTED). Couldn't find one. So I hit "hint". It showed me the SINGLE move on the board available to me, which I made... and then the game told me "No moves left". I got to make ONE move and the game ended. What the hell kind of difficulty balancing is that??! I was given no choice but to immediately fail in the scenario I was given, and your engine obviously does nothing to prevent this. Therefore I end with a big ol' "This could be better".

As far as the game goes... it doesn't really matter how polished your design is if the game itself is a bit too simplistic in nature. For instance, I could go and make a game with super-realistic physics and 3D graphics... but if it's just a keepie-uppie type game??? No one would play it anyway.

I have to admit...

Base on the first couple levels I was about to review and say that the number of these kind of "push the object" games, where you can get trapped in a corner and are forced to start over is getting out of hand, and that yours is no different just because it has good graphics, is isometric, and kinda bounces the levels into place... but then I saw you had the element of elevation in there, and the dropping tiles and what-not... and I must say that I am impressed at the diversity of the puzzles. This ends up being a a very cool puzzle game. Good luck in the competition!

Signature? What??

What does this do? You're saying you can make a signature out of the News Post form?? Or from whistle-status/level statistics display? Why wouldn't someone just screen-capture those things off the site itself? I'm not sure I entirely understand the point... and you have little to no instruction in the Flash. Your "How to paste image" button does the exact same thing as the "Image uploading" button. And the "Image uploading" button does nothing but display a file-browse box, so I can't be sure that it's doing what it is supposed to do either.

MarioFlashMovies responds:

No, you do it to your BBS.

Had there never been the MGS series...

... this would be one of the strangest games I have ever seen. Maybe it was supposed to be comedic that your character was a box with legs, I don't know. It's kinda like those movies that exist just to show off somebody's ability to utilize 3D, and really don't have a story worth telling, or characters worth liking. Like that movie "Polar Express" or "Arthur and the Invisibles". It was okay, and I understand that the use of 3D in Flash is a fairly new thing, and no one is going to be creating masterpiece's with it for quite some time (if ever)... but it just seems like something better could have certainly been the product of your time and talent.

On a useability-related note, what was with only being able to direct the missile at odd angles in the first person mode? And why did the missile sort of "jump" into accelerated mode (like it had only 2 velocity's available to it) rather than transition?

So now you see that evil will always triumph, because good... is dumb.
