What was it again?

It seems like you know a fair bit of Flash. I am sure you could be making things a lot more involved than this.

You said it yourself, this is only a simulation...

... which also means that it is just a movie of a game. It has no plot, no story, no likeable characters. There is next to nothing interesting about a movie of someone playing a game, unless the game itself is something to marvel at. Unfortunately, your game leaves a lot to be desired. It is a basic quiz game, with the only twist being that your choice determines which of two paths you take on a train track... one that takes you further, and one that kills you. Ask yourself: how much different is that, really, from a quiz game in which the player simply sees a win/lose screen? It might be somewhat more interesting if the train car crashed in multiple different ways... off a cliff with one wrong answer... smashing into a brick wall the next... falling into water or something. And it would be more interesting if answering correctly won you some prize, like getting to see a new area, or graphic of some kind. But that would only be interesting until you had seen them all... and the animation and graphics would need to be much better than what you have showcased here... otherwise there goes even THAT level of interest.

I'm not trying to be a jackass here, but with your descrition tooting your own horn like you did... basically sticking your tongue out at potential reviewers and shouting "MY whistle is bigger than YOUR whistle", and touting your previous submissions as some great and powerful things because they won some mediocre award... you're really asking people to ramp up their agression before reviewing your submission. You're assaulting their egos... nobody likes a guy who looks down at them. Especially if the "pedestal" he's looking down from is actually just a telephone book.

Sorry about that, but I passed judjment. I might as well get turd of the week now.

Thanks for the recommendations, but I'm ot going to remove the whistle statement because it's actually playing people like you to my favor; I'm losing points: fast.

BTW, my other submissions DIDN'T win any awards, but I did spend a lot of time on them.

The car will have different characters to put in, there will be a background, and everything will be more colorful.

Thanks for the long and detailed review. If you still want to complain, PM me.

Good stuff...

Great drawing style... great voice-acting/narration. By the way, though I am sure it isn't, that narrator sounded a hell of a lot like Vin Diesel. My only beef is that the "genius" plan didn't turn out to be anything other than hiding in the kitchen, then strangling and stabbing Santa. It took a whole year to think up THAT?

Good work...

Just a few things... for one, a couple of time he blasted people with his "power" who he had just beaten the absolute crap out of... and yet, when the bazooka guy comes along, he lets him get 4 or 5 shots off on him before finally taking the guy out. If he could shatter walls with blasts of energy from his hands, why not use it to take out the really dangerous enemies? Not the ones who he has already incapacitated... I understand it is just a Flash movie, but it doesn't make sense... and I feel it suffers as a result. Also... there were 2 times I lost track of which stick-guy was the character we were supposed to be rooting for. He needed a distinguishing charactersistic, like the red guy, to set him apart from the others. Other than that, cool.

Simply awesome...

As cool as the game mechanics and options were in the Kingdom Hearts games, they both suffered from the same horrifyingly awful writing. The stories were absolute garbage... and boy was it fun watching someone poke fun at that so adeptly. I laughed out loud at several parts... but I think one of my favorites was when the 3 heroes were running around without purpose from planet to planet, with the occassional scenbe of Sora and Goofy beating on a couple heartless thrown in. Hilarious... and not really far off from the actual storyline...

RogerregoRRoger responds:

Strange how some people say it has nothing to do with the storyline, and some like you say it does fit. Logic in some way tough, since this movie is mostly created from my confusion for the story, thuss is litterly my interpretaton of the story, so only others who are confused seem to understand where I'm going at. Ah well, many people enjoyed themselves, so I did my job again I guess.

Excellent images and effects...

... however, it is bigger than 4 MB... that seems quite large for a site intro, which I'm assuming this was... hopefully you'll have the fore-thought to give the visitor of your site an HTML link to click to skip past the Flash intro, and not force them to download this and watch it. You probably should have mentioned that it was just an intro to a site in your description, because a lot of people don't seem to understand that. You probably also should have eliminated the links that were pointing at "home.htm"... especially the automatic redirect at the end of the movie. It makes your Flash look broken. All in all this is good... but this really isn't the place for site intros I don't think.

Great idea...

I had to vote five because those Sunshine Crew movies have been pissing me off as of late also. The sun graphic was great, the songs were all good choices... the premise of this is fantastic... make it better and put those fools in their place. If this doesn't get through while their movies (that are more poorly drawn, contain fewer interactive elements, and of which there are just way too many posted), then the users on this site who are voting those through while blamming this are fools.

MisterFeelGood responds:

Yeah some of them are anyway, but well thanks for the compliments, Maybe I'll upgrade it one day.

Kludgy at best...

The running speed was not synched up with the animation of his feet... it made it look like he was half running in place, half actually getting somewhere. The jumping was horribly slow at points. Have you ever heard of gravity? Its that thing that causes an object to ACCELERATE as it falls. The sprites were great... but you didn't draw those. Other than that, with no dialogue or character interaction outside of Megaman blasting things, its like watching someone play one of the games... except that for some reason the game makers decided to give the game a really horrible physics model and animations that didn't make sense with the slowness of the actual movements. I'm really not sure what is so promising about this.

Didn't like it...

Animation and graphics were sub-par. As previews go it didn't really preview much. It left you without any understanding of the story or characters. If I was supposed to have some prior knowledge of who those people were that I was seeing... I didn't... and honestly, I shouldn't be expected to. And the song was just about the only sound in the entire movie outside of the laugh from whoever that armored figure was (Satan?), which made it seem like you just didn't want to take the time to actually make this preview mean anything. It was more like a really, realy bad music video for the song. It was very unimpressive.

I like the telling of the back-story...

... however... the choice of the George Bush graphic seemed a little... actually a lot out of place. For one, I don't consider him any more powerful than presidents before him. Two, we haven't yet depleted the planet, and aren't in a state of panic, desperation, nor do we have all that many major wars going on. So... its not like this story of yours is going to be possible within even the current president's lifetime.

Also... as well put together as this was... you have to admit that it mostly wasn't much of your own work anyway... at least graphically/animation-wise. You had a few scenes at the start that were some tweened stills of hand-drawn graphics, but other than that the rest was a basic slide-show of a bunch of photos you got off the internet... traced-bitmaps by the looks of it.

At any rate, it was well "directed", and certainly has potential.

So now you see that evil will always triumph, because good... is dumb.
